Using Polar Flow with TrainingPeaks

Overview

TrainingPeaks users can sync their training sessions and planned workouts between Polar Flow and TrainingPeaks for seamless data tracking and performance analysis. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to connect your accounts, sync your workouts, and manage your training data.


Compatible Polar Devices

The following Polar devices support synchronization with TrainingPeaks:

  • Grit X, Grit X Pro

  • Ignite, Ignite 2

  • M200, M400, M430, M460

  • Pacer, Pacer Pro

  • Unite

  • Vantage M, Vantage M2, Vantage V, Vantage V2

  • V800, V650


Connecting Polar Flow and TrainingPeaks

To enable automatic synchronization between Polar Flow and TrainingPeaks, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you have active accounts

    • You must have both a Polar Flow and a TrainingPeaks account.

  2. Log in to Polar Flow

  3. Access account settings

    • Click on your name in the top right corner and select Settings.

    • Navigate to the Partners tab.

  4. Connect TrainingPeaks

    • Find TrainingPeaks in the list of partners and click Connect.

    • A new TrainingPeaks window will open. Click Connect and log in to your TrainingPeaks account.

    • Authorize the connection by clicking Allow.

  5. Confirmation

    • Once successfully connected, you’ll see a confirmation message in Polar Flow.


Syncing Training Data

Once your accounts are linked, training sessions recorded with Polar devices will automatically sync to TrainingPeaks when uploaded to Polar Flow.

What Data Syncs?

  • Workouts from Polar devices or the Polar Beat app, including:

    • GPS data

    • Heart rate

    • Altitude

    • Cadence

    • Power

  • Only sessions with sample data (needed to draw curves) are synced.

What Doesn’t Sync?

  • Manually added workouts in Polar Flow

  • Training sessions without sample data

  • Sessions synced from third-party apps like Polar Club or MyFitnessPal

  • Sessions transferred from PolarPersonalTrainer.com or Polar ProTrainer 5

  • Workouts recorded before the accounts were connected (these can be exported manually from Polar Flow and uploaded to TrainingPeaks)


Syncing TrainingPeaks Workouts to Polar Flow

After linking your accounts, compatible training plans and structured workouts from TrainingPeaks will automatically sync to your Polar Flow diary.

How to Trigger a Manual Sync:

  • Web: Click the Update button in the Flow calendar view.

  • App: Pull down in the Calendar view.

  • Watch: Manually sync your Polar watch by long-pressing the Back button.

Supported Workouts

TrainingPeaks workouts appear in Polar Flow with the following mapping:

Note: TrainingPeaks workout titles have a 45-character limit in Polar Flow, and training notes are limited to 500 characters.


Managing Training Zones

Polar Flow and TrainingPeaks use different zone structures for heart rate, speed/pace, and power.

  • Polar Flow always uses five zones.

  • TrainingPeaks allows custom zones with varying numbers.

To Ensure Compatibility:

  1. Open a training target in TrainingPeaks and the corresponding Sport Profile in Polar Flow.

  2. Adjust the number of zones in TrainingPeaks to match Polar Flow (five zones).

  3. Remove any overlapping threshold values in TrainingPeaks to align with Polar Flow.


Disconnecting Polar Flow from TrainingPeaks

If you need to disconnect your accounts:

  1. Go to Polar Flow Settings.

  2. Click on the Partners tab.

  3. Select TrainingPeaks and click Disconnect.

This will stop automatic syncing but will not delete past training data in either platform.
