Athletes and workouts can disappear from WKO if the data is stored in the cloud using a service such as iCloud, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc. If you're missing athletes, workouts, or charts, you're likely seeing the result of cloud storage. For WKO to work properly, you must move the data folder to another location that is not in the cloud, such as "/Users/<username>/WKO5" or "/Users/<username>/Documents/WKO5".
If your data is stored in the cloud, here's how to get it back.
- If you’re on a Mac using iCloud Drive, first turn off cloud syncing to prevent the files from being changed while we are moving them. If you skip this step and go straight to moving WKO’s data, you'll be moving it without all your files. (After you move the WKO folder to a local folder, you’ll turn cloud syncing back on.)
- Open System Preferences and select iCloud.
- Deselect Desktop & Documents Folders at the top of the iCloud Drive window (under Documents).
- Deselect Optimize Mac Storage at the bottom of the iCloud Drive window.
- Click Done. This turns off the syncing of the files.
- Exit WKO.
- If you’re using a service like OneDrive or Dropbox, allow it to finish syncing any current documents until it is up to date.
- Using Finder or Explorer, navigate to your data store location, right-click the folder named WKO5, and click Copy. Do not "cut" the folder or move it out of its current location. If you’re not sure where your data is stored, open WKO and click Help > Locations > Data Store, note the location given, and close WKO again, repeating Step 3 if necessary.Create a backup copy of your data by navigating to the Desktop and pasting (right-click > Paste) a copy of the WKO5 folder.
- Navigate to the local folder in which you'd like to store your WKO data (we recommend "/Users/<username>", or on Mac "/Users/<username>/Local Documents", or on PC "/Users/<username>/Documents") and paste (right-click > Paste) a second copy of the WKO folder.
- Open WKO5.
- Open Preferences from the WKO menu (on Mac), the Tools menu (on PC), or the gear wheel at the top right of the screen.
- Click the "..." by the "Data store location" field and select the new location where you copied the WKO folder (not the backup folder on your desktop). If you took our recommendations, it will likely be "/Users/<username>/WKO5", "/Users/<username>/Local Documents/WKO5", or "/Users/<username>/Documents".
- Exit WKO.
- Using Finder/Explorer, navigate to the original cloud location (the one identified in Step 4 above) and rename the original folder from WKO5 to WKO5.DELETE.
- Run WKO and make sure everything looks great. This is very important!
- If everything in WKO looks correct, in Finder/Explorer, delete the folder WKO5.DELETE.
- If you’re a Mac user, you can now turn iCloud Drive syncing back on.
