How to delete WKO4 after upgrading to WKO5

Upgrading to WKO5 from WKO4 does not remove any WKO4 files or data from your computer. The two applications can remain on your computer indefinitely without affecting WKO5 data, though we strongly discourage using both applications simultaneously, as this will cause both to run slowly, and you may end up with duplicates and errors as the two applications repeatedly convert and modify your files to their own processes. 

If you'd like to remove WKO4 from your computer, you can simply delete the app (on Mac) or uninstall it (on PC). There is no need to do anything further. If, however, you'd like to remove WKO4 files from your machine and free up some space, here is how to do it:

How to delete WKO4 on a Mac computer

  1. Deactivate WKO4.
    1. Open WKO4.
    2. Click the WKO4 menu and click Activate.
    3. Click the Deactivate button on the window that opens. 
    4. WKO4 will close.
  2. Close WKO5 if it is open.
  3. Using Finder, navigate to Applications and drag the WKO4 icon into the trash.
  4. Delete the .wko4settings files:
    1. Using Finder, navigate to UserName > Library > Application Support > WKO4.
      • The Library folder is sometimes hidden by Mac OS; to unhide it, hold down Option/Alt on your keyboard and click the Go menu in the Mac bar; as long as you hold down the Option key, the Library folder will appear in the Go menu.
    2. In this folder, delete the WKO4.wko4settings files. There will be one WKO4.wko4settings file and several with a number appended at the end of the file name (i.e., WKO4.wko4settings.1, etc.; delete all of these. Pay close attention to the file names; you do NOT want to delete the WKO4.wko5settings files.
  5. Delete the .wko4home files:
    1. Using Finder, navigate to your WKO data store folder. This will typically be UserName > WKO4.
      1. If you aren’t sure where the folder is stored, open WKO5, click Help > Locations > Data Store, and the folder will open in Finder.
    2. Within your data folder, delete the WKO4.wko4home files. There will be one WKO4.wko4home file and several with a number appended at the end of the file name (i.e., WKO4.wko4home.1, etc.); delete all of these. Pay close attention to the file names; you do NOT want to delete the WKO4.wko5home files.
  6. Delete the WKO4athlete files.
    1. Still using Finder and still in your WKO data store folder (the same location as step 5), click into the first athlete's folder. 
    2. Delete any files ending with .wko4athlete, including the ones with a number appended to the end of the file name (i.e., New-Athlete.wko4athlete.1). Pay close attention to the file names; you do NOT want to delete the wko5athlete files.
    3. Repeat for the remaining athlete folders.
  7. Delete the WKO4 cache folders.
    1. Still using Finder and still in your WKO data store folder (the same location as step 5), click into the first athlete's folder. 
    2. Drag the Cache folder to the trash bin. (The Cache5 folder will remain.)
    3. Repeat for all remaining athlete folders.

How to delete WKO4 on a PC machine:

  1. Deactivate WKO4.
    1. Open WKO4.
    2. Click Help > Activate.
    3. Click the Deactivate button on the window that opens. 
    4. WKO4 will close.
  2. Close WKO5 if it is open.
  3. Uninstall the WKO4 application.
  4. Delete the .wko4settings files:
    1. Using Explorer, navigate to UserName > AppData > Local > WKO4.
      • The AppData folder is sometimes hidden by Windows; to unhide it, click the View tab on your Explorer window ribbon and tick the box by “Hidden items” in the Show/hide section of the ribbon.
    2. In this folder, delete the WKO4.wko4settings files. There will be one WKO4.wko4settings file and several with a number appended at the end of the file name (i.e., WKO4.wko4settings.1, etc.; delete all of these. Pay close attention to the file names; you do NOT want to delete the WKO4.wko5settings files.
  5. Delete the .wko4home files:
    1. Using Explorer, navigate to your WKO data store folder. This will typically be Documents > WKO4.
      1. If you aren’t sure where the folder is stored, open WKO5, click Help > Locations > Data Store, and the folder will open in Explorer.
    2. Within your data folder, delete the WKO4.wko4home files. There will be one WKO4.wko4home file and several with a number appended at the end of the file name (i.e., WKO4.wko4home.1, etc.); delete all of these. Pay close attention to the file names; you do NOT want to delete the WKO4.wko5home files.
  6. Delete the WKO4athlete files.
    1. Still using Explorer and still in your WKO data store folder (the same location as step 5), click into the first athlete's folder. 
    2. Delete any files ending with .wko4athlete, including the ones with a number appended to the end of the file name (i.e., New-Athlete.wko4athlete.1). Pay close attention to the file names; you do NOT want to delete the wko5athlete files.
    3. Repeat for the remaining athlete folders.
  7. Delete the WKO4 cache folders.
    1. Still using Explorer and still in your WKO data store folder (the same location as step 5), click into the first athlete's folder. 
    2. Delete the Cache folder. (The Cache5 folder will remain.)
    3. Repeat for all remaining athlete folders.
