To ensure that you are always running with the latest features, TrainingPeaks Virtual will automatically update itself at the start of each session to the latest version. You should not need to do anything special yourself – just launch TrainingPeaks Virtual as normal, and it will seamlessly check for updates, apply any that are relevant, and then run the main application for you.
The latest update process was introduced in mid-August 2023. If you downloaded TrainingPeaks Virtual before then, and not used it since, if the install process doesn’t automatically work you will likely need to re-download the latest launcher.
Manual Updates
On a very small number of computers this automated process doesn’t always work. Usually this is due to the launcher not having sufficient permissions to make the changes needed to the TrainingPeaks Virtual install. If the update process appears to not be working – for example, the % complete indicator sticks on a value for more than 1 minute – then you can manually update TrainingPeaks Virtual as follows.
- Firstly, please can you email virtual@trainingpeaks.com with the log file from the update process. This will help us understand what happened and make a fix to minimise the chance of the issue happening again for you, or anyone else. The update log file can be found in one of the following locations (depending on how you have your computer configured):
- Windows: c:\users\<you>\documents\TPVirtual\InstallInfo
- Windows: c:\users\<you>\TPVirtual\InstallInfo
- Mac: /Users/<you>/TPVirtual/InstallInfo
Where “<you>” is your login name on your computer
- Secondly, delete the following folder:
- Windows: c:\users\<you>\documents\TPVirtual\InstallData
- Windows: c:\users\<you>\TPVirtual\InstallData
- Mac: /Users/<you>/TPVirtual/InstallData
- Finally, run the TrainingPeaks Virtual-Launcher application again. It will then re-download the latest version of the game and run it when finished.
