How do I Upload a File to TrainingPeaks if Garmin Connect is Unavailable?

If Garmin Connect suffers a service outage that temporarily suspends the automatic file sync from Garmin Connect to TrainingPeaks, users who rely on that file transfer mechanism to upload their files to TrainingPeaks can still manually connect some device to their computer to sync their files to TrainingPeaks.

To upload your Garmin file, you will need:

  1. A USB cable that will connect to your Garmin device.
  2. A computer with a USB jack and an internet connection.

Mac Instructions (Non-Music enabled Garmin Devices)

  2. Plugin your Garmin device to your computer using the cable that came with your Garmin. If you never upload files from you Garmin using a cable that's OK - this is the same cable you use to charge your Garmin.
  3. Hold command + space bar together and in the spotlight search window that appears type 'Finder.'

Misc

  • Please note that this manual file upload method only works for workout files, not other metrics, some Garmin devices record like steps, weight, etc. Unfortunately, you will have to wait until Garmin Connect is up and running again to get that data off your device.
  • Don't worry about duplicate files uploading to TrainingPeaks - TrainingPeaks automatically checks queued uploading files against what you've already uploaded into your TrainingPeaks athlete account and will automatically not upload a file if it already exists on your TrainingPeaks calendar.
