Manually Upload your Garmin File to TrainingPeaks

Recently Garmin suffered a service outage that temporarily suspended the automatic file sync from Garmin Connect to TrainingPeaks, affecting many TrainingPeaks users who rely on that file transfer mechanism to upload their files to TrainingPeaks.

While we're unsure when that auto-sync will resume, in the meantime, TrainingPeaks athletes with a Garmin can still manually upload their files from their device into TrainingPeaks to view their workout data.

To upload your Garmin file, you will need:

  1. A USB cable that will connect with your Garmin device.
  2. A computer with a USB jack and an internet connection.

Let's begin:

Mac Instructions (Non-Music enabled Garmin Devices)

Misc

  • Please note that this manual file upload method only works for workout files, not other metrics, some Garmin devices record like steps, weight, etc. Unfortunately, you will have to wait until Garmin Connect is up and running again to get that data off your device.
  • Don't worry about duplicate files uploading to TrainingPeaks - TrainingPeaks automatically checks queued uploading files against what you've already uploaded into your TrainingPeaks athlete account and will automatically not upload a file if it already exists on your TrainingPeaks calendar.
