TrainingPeaks now offers a view with every data channel recorded in your uploaded workout files, visible in one place, Beta Charts. Within this view, found in the workout card, you can customize what data you want to analyze and in what order you want to analyze it. As well as overlay channels to analyze up to 5 channels at once, and create custom laps.
Please note that this is only available on the TrainingPeaks Web App at this time.
Adjusting the data channels order and visibility
- Open the workout card
- Click Beta Charts
- Click Channels
- Use
to display or hide individual channels
- Use
to adjust the positioning of the individual channels
- Click outside of the window to close and save
Please note:
- Your selections will be saved and used in future workout cards.
- You can save different channel selections for each sport type.
- If new channels are detected, TrainingPeaks will display by default. You can uncheck the box for the channels you don't want to see.
Creating a multi-channel chart
- Click the + next to the Channels button
- Title your new chart
- Select the Primary Channel
- Select the Supporting Channels (you can select up to 4 to overlay)
- Select Save or Save & Close
- Your new chart will be listed first
- Click
to the right if you want to Edit, Delete, or change the size of this chart
Please note that your custom charts will appear in other workout cards of the same sport type.
Analyzing the data channels
- Hover over the graph in the chart to display the individual data points
- Highlight sections of the graph in the chart to display the Min/Avg/Max of the desired section
- Use
to hide the Zones display, and adjust the chart size
- To change the x-axis, use
at the bottom of the charts to choose Duration, Distance, or Both
Adjusting and analyzing Lap data
- From the Analyze tab in Beta Charts, you will see laps fixed at the bottom
- Scroll down to view each lap
- Scroll to the left to view each data channel
- Click on a lap field to display the lap in the charts above
- Click Columns to add/remove data columns
- Click Filters to customize the column fields, equations, and values
Please note that laps will be pinned by default, but if changed, that will persist going forward.
Creating a custom Lap
- From the Analyze tab in Beta Charts, you will highlight a portion of the data you want to become a lap
- You can use the
icons on the right/left side of the highlighted portion to adjust the lap
- Title the new lap and Save
- Scroll down to view all laps (you can also pin/unpin the laps from the bottom right)
- Under Source, you will notice the new lap is labeled as User, instead of Device
- Click on a lap to display the lap in the charts above
- Click Edit Lap to adjust the title and duration
- Click Columns to add/remove data columns
- Click Filters to customize the column fields, equations, and values
Please note:
- Custom laps will calculate as many metrics in the data grid as possible from the workout file.
- Certain metrics, which are calculated by the device, like temperature and vertical oscillation, cannot be recreated for custom time ranges.
At this time, Pace, Speed, Heart Rate, Power, and Elevation channels are available to Basic users, and all other channels are available to Premium subscribers. If you have suggestions or feedback, please add them to our UserVoice forum.
