TrainingPeaks Coach Account Types
Once the TrainingPeaks coach account is open, we offer two pricing options for coaches.
Coach Edition
Coach Edition is $19 per month and allows you to add 1 free Coach Paid Premium athlete and 4 Basic athletes. Additional Premium Athlete Accounts can be added.
The $19 monthly fee is automatically pro-rated to the day, so if you were to change your billing group or coach account type any time during the month, it will be accounted for.
This fee, along with any Premium athlete fees you may have, will be paid on the first of each month for the prior month's usage
This fee will be paid by the owner of the billing group. If you are part of a multi-member group, both this fee and any Premium athlete fees are paid for by the owner of the billing group. These charges cannot be separated.
Coach Edition Unlimited
Coach Edition Unlimited is $49 per month and allows you to add 1 free Premium athlete and an unlimited number of Basic athletes. Additional Premium Athlete Accounts can be added.
The $49 monthly fee is automatically pro-rated to the day, so if you were to change your billing group or coach account type any time during the month, it will be accounted for.
This fee, along with any Premium athlete fees you may have, will be paid on the first of each month for the prior month's usage
This fee will be paid by the owner of the billing group. If you are part of a multi-member group both this fee and any Premium athlete fees are paid for by the owner of the billing group. These charges cannot be separated.
Which account type should I choose?

Most coaches want to keep their monthly fee as low as possible without sacrificing the coaching functionality or athlete experience on TrainingPeaks. The above chart shows the breakdown in monthly fees for each coaching package side by side, with one Premium Coach-Paid athlete (included in each coaching package), for 1-15 athletes assuming you're trying to keep your monthly costs as low as possible.
You may want to choose Coach Edition if:
- You only work with a small number of athletes and keeping your costs low is a top priority.
- Most of your athletes are Premium and you have no plans to work with Basic athletes.
- You require most of your athletes to be Premium, either coach paid or athlete paid. Note: There is no additional charge to the coach when adding athletes that already have paid for their premium athlete subscription.
You may want to choose Coach Edition Unlimited if:
- You coach groups, teams, or a club and do not require Post Workout Notifications (premium athlete feature).
- You have more than 5 athletes and are okay with not having Post Workout Notifications for some of your athletes.

Accessing Your Account Management Page
- Log on to your TrainingPeaks Coach Account
- Click your name
- Click Settings
- Scroll down a little on the pop-up window and click the 'manage subscriptions and payments' hyperlink
- A new tab will open on your browser that will display your Account info, Active subscription, Billing, training plan reports, and Public profile.
Switching your Coaching Package
- Log on to your TrainingPeaks Coach Account
- Click your name
- Click Settings
- Scroll down a little on the pop-up window and click the 'manage subscriptions and payments' hyperlink.
- Under 'Active Subscriptions' click 'edit'
- Confirm that you wish to change your current TrainingPeaks Coaching subscription
Please note that we will prorate your billing to account for this change so that you only pay for the exact usage you had.
For example, if you changed from Coach Edition on the 15th of the month to Coach Edition Unlimited, you would have partial charges for 15 days of Coach Edition and then the rest of the month on Coach Edition Unlimited on the next payment receipt.
Accessing Your Invoices
- Log on to your TrainingPeaks Coach Account
- Click your name
- Click Settings
- Scroll down a little on the pop-up window and click the 'manage subscriptions and payments' hyperlink
- A new tab will open on your browser that will display your Account info, Active subscription, Billing, training plan reports, and Public profile.
- Click 'Billing'
- You will see all the invoices associated with your account listed. To view an invoice, click on the underlined month and year in the left column.
Understanding Your Bill

On the first few days of the month, we bill coaches for their TrainingPeaks coach account. If we can process the payment successfully, you will receive an invoice for that payment which is sent to your email on file in your TrainingPeaks coach account. Remember that you can access your invoices at any time through your Account Management page.
Important: The bill a coach account receives on the first few days of the month is not for future account usage like a TrainingPeaks Premium athlete subscription - Coach Accounts are billed in arrears for the prorated usage for the past month.
Common Billing Problems
The two most common reasons we cannot process payments are:
1. The address you entered on file in TrainingPeaks does not match what you put on file for the card itself. Make sure they do, and if they don't, edit that information by going to your 'manage subscriptions and payments tab' and editing your address under 'billing'.
2. Your bank flagged the transaction. Banks employ sophisticated algorithms to protect your account against fraud. The upside is you're more protected. The downside is false positives occur more often.
If we cannot process the payment, the next time you log on to TrainingPeaks full site on the web, you will see a splash page prompting you to update your card on file. If you are only 30 days past due, you can update your card or proceed to your TrainingPeaks coach account.
If you need to update your card, do so as follows:
1. Log into your TrainingPeaks coach account on the full website.
2. Click the 'update billing'
3. Add a new card.
4. Enter your credentials. Make sure that the name and address associated with the card match what you enter into our system.
5. Set that card to default.
6. If the card is successfully added, we will attempt to process the bill in 24 hours.
7. If that doesn't go through, please check with your bank again and make sure they're not flagging a transaction for 'TrainingPeaks' or 'Peaksware' as fraudulent.
VAT
To remain compliant with European VAT regulations, we collect VAT for customers that reside in the EU on their monthly coaching bill. The VAT charged varies by 18-27% depending on the country.
To prevent your monthly bill from increasing, please add your VAT ID to your TrainingPeaks Coach Account Billing, accessible under the Account Management tab.
Once you add your VAT ID, you can see it from your Coach Billing Contact information on your Account Management page.
Your VAT ID will also appear on your monthly TrainingPeaks coaching invoices should you need them for tax purposes on your end.
Important We will continue to collect VAT for coaches in the UK as our obligation to collect VAT does not rely on the country being within the EU.
Billing FAQS
What are the Premium Athlete fees and are there any volume discounts?
Coach-paid Premium athlete fees are TrainingPeaks athlete Premium subscriptions paid for by your coach account.
We offer a coach-paid Premium athlete discount structure based on the number of Premium Athletes paid for by your billing group. Self-Paid Premium Athletes will not incur any additional fee to you and do not count towards this discount structure.
< 9: $9: (55% discount)

20 - 49: $8.10 (59% discount)
50 - 99: $7.65 (61% discount)
100-199: $7.20 (64% discount)
200-499: $6.30 (68% discount)
500-999: $5.40 (73% discount)

Premium athlete fees for all members of the billing group are paid by the owner of the billing group on the first day of each month for the prior month's usage.
This discount structure begins its count after the included Premium athlete(s) for the billing group (I.e. you must have 10 Coach Paid Premium Athletes in your billing group to receive the 5% discount).
Do you offer National Governing Body Discounts?
Coaches with an active National Governing Body certification can receive up to a 20% discount off the $49 Coach Edition Unlimited coaching package. Please note that this discount does not apply to Coach Edition accounts.

Can a coaching group pay for Premium Athlete charges but have each coach pay their own Coach Edition/Coach Edition Unlimited fees?
No, they will now be combined into a single bill on the first of each month. The billing group owner will receive an emailed receipt that lists a summary of the monthly payments for usage incurred during the previous month. For the breakdown of your Premium athlete fees, see your invoices by accessing Account Management.
What happens if one coach in a multi-member billing group qualifies for a discount?
All coaches within that billing group will receive the same discounted price as that discounted coach.
If multiple coaches qualify for a discount, the lowest discounted price will be used.
If I change to Coach Edition Unlimited but decide it's not for me, can I go back to the Coach Edition pricing level?
Yes, you can change between the two account types at any time. All fees will be prorated based on the number of days that you were at each pricing level.
How often can I downgrade an athlete from Premium to Basic?
Upgrading an athlete to a Premium account requires a minimum 14-day commitment; you can downgrade an athlete to a Basic account 14 days after the initial upgrade. All fees will be prorated based on the number of days that the athlete was Premium.
What happens if I am unable to pay my bill?
If we cannot process your payment at the time it is due, you will be prompted for payment each time you subsequently access your coach account. All members of your billing group and your attached athletes will retain full access for the first 30 days.
After 30 days, all members of a billing group will no longer be able to access their coach account(s). You will be required to settle this outstanding payment to regain access. Your attached athletes will maintain access to their accounts.
After 60 days, the accounts for all members of your billing group will be closed, and all athletes will be detached. If you would like to reopen your account after this date, you will need to reactivate your account by paying the $99 license fee (see our Terms of Use for further details).
Do you offer a 'hold' option?
Coach accounts cannot be put on hold or suspended - coaching accounts can only be opened or closed. If you choose to close your coaching account, you may be subject to a $99 reactivation fee when you open your coaching account again per our policy.
If you won't use your account for up to 5 months, switch your coaching package to the Coach Edition. It is less expensive ($19/month x 5 months = $95 vs $99 reactivation fee) to keep your account open than to close it and pay the license fee again.
