On some Windows computers, the default ANT+ drivers are not the latest version. If you find that you cannot reliably connect to your ANT+ devices using TrainingPeaks Virtual, this can usually be resolved by just updating to the latest drivers.
There are many ways to do this – see below for a few options to select from depending on your own preferences.
A) Most Reliable Method
Download and install a cached version of the drivers (v1.2.40.201, which have been tested and confirmed to work with TrainingPeaks Virtual on Windows 10 and Windows 11) directly from the TrainingPeaks Virtual website as follows:
- Download the drivers from here: ant_usb2_drivers.zip
- Unzip the downloaded file into a new folder – e.g. c:\temp\ANTDrivers
- Make sure your ANT+ dongle is inserted into your computer.
- Open the Windows Device Manager (from the Start Menu, type “Device Manager” to find it).
- Scroll down the list of devices shown to find your ANT+ dongle. It will probably be listed under either “Other devices” or “libusb-win32 devices”.
- Right click on the entry and select “Update driver” from the options shown.
- On the next screen shown, select “Browse my computer for drivers”.
- On the next screen shown, select the folder you selected in Step (2) above.
- Select “Next”, and wait a few seconds while everything is automatically installed.
- Run TrainingPeaks Virtual, and your ANT+ devices should now be automatically found.
B) Most Convenient Method
The ANT+ protocol is maintained by ANT Wireless, a wholly owned subsidiary of Garmin. Downloading and installing the latest version of Garmin Express will usually also automatically update the drivers to the latest versions.

C) Most Flexible Method
Not having the right ANT+ drivers is a very common issue for many different pieces of computer software. Many different downloads, install guides and further details can be easily found with a websearch, for example:
